BuzzFeed, #BODYWEEK & Finding MY Body/Courage

“The quality of the life that I live is more important than how I look in the mirror.” – Danielle Pinnock

As most of you know, I am at home sick with the flu today so I figured I would catch up on some blogging in the meantime.

Something that has brought me great joy this week has been to see my #BodyCourage story featured on Buzzfeed for #BodyWeek.

This week Buzzfeed has published “17 stories of Eating Disorder Survival.” The fierce Caroline Rothstein was the BuzzFeed contributor who complied all of these stories. She gave us all a chance to let our stories be heard so that we may inspire someone else.

Thank you Nicole Aiken, who suggested that I apply to this. Thank you everyone for all of the phone calls, text messages, e-mails and overall love y’all have given me.

This article, made me realize just how important it is for me to share my #BodyCourage story in my one-woman show as I develop the script further. I have always been afraid to tell my truth. Afraid that people would judge me or look down on me for having such an interesting past.

What this article has shown me, through all of the diverse voices, is that: It doesn’t matter where you have been, just focus on the tasks for today. I do not need to be embarrassed by my past, because my past may be able to help or inspire someone.

I cannot wait to see what this year has to bring.

Thank you so much again for the love and support.

Love,

D
