Happy New Year!
I know some of you are hyped to have a fresh start and to make big things happen this year. It is 0 degrees with a negative 30 wind chill and I am smiling from home in the warm comfort of my Crocs.
2014 was a difficult year for our country and some of you may have had some trying times. I know I DID! This is the year of clean slates, embracing adversity and CREATING OUR SUCCESS.
I wanted to write this post and just say thank you so much for all of your support in 2014. YOU, as a village, made my dreams happen. Thank God. Without you, I would never have been able to take Anna Deavere Smith’s course last June. I would never have been able to have a successful run of the Body/Courage workshop at the Chicago Fringe Festival and at Gorilla Tango. Last year I never knew how things were going to turn out and they all surpassed my expectations. So just thank you from the bottom of my heart. (Cue Praise Dance)
This month has been busy! Busy is always good. One of the few things Joan Rivers and I have in common is that We HATE calendars with no appointments.
As some of you know, I am in two rehearsals at the moment.
I am currently working on the play: Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 (about the LA Riots & Rodney King trial).
Ironically, this play is by Anna Deavere Smith, so everything is coming full circle in a really amazing way.
Other Theatre Company is producing the production and Jason Gerace is directing.
I am so honored to be a part of an ensemble so fierce. Six phenomenally talented women are about to SNATCH your lives with some poignant theatre.

The show will be running: January 23- February 22 @ CHOPIN THEATRE 1543 W Division St Chicago, IL 60642
I am trying to make these dreams of the BODY/COURAGE tour a reality for 2015. I wrote on a crumpled napkin last year in Potbelly that I wanted to have a producer & sponsor showcase of the play.
In order to move this show forward I need either a corporate sponsor who can fund the project, a theatre company willing to put the show in their season, or OPRAH! Workshopping this show for three years has been a life changing experience, but I am now ready to finish the play. So my Potbelly crumpled napkin dreams came true.
Shout out to Bec Willett’s awesome graphic design and for Jack Wallace’s Photography. If you want their info just Comment Below : )
I pulled up my bootstraps and decided to make my dreams a reality.
This February 16 at 7:30pm I will be offering a ONE NIGHT ONLY SHOWCASE to any potential sponsors, theatre company’s and Oprah’s who may want to help me move the show forward.
This performance will feature 12 of the best characters I have performed in all of the workshops SINCE 2012. Kaye Publicity in Chicago will be doing the PR for the show to fill bottoms in the 56-seat space at Greenhouse Theatre.
FOR TICKETS: Get them Here-—
The genius Thomas Murray, Artistic Director of Waltzing Mechanics, will be directing again. Patrice Foster will be assistant directing.
If YOU or any producers/sponsors interested in attending please contact Julia Borcherts: firstname.lastname@example.org
What do you want to accomplish in 2015? I am so hyped and afraid and ecstatic for all of the things that will be coming this year. This is OUR year y’all. Let’s make things happen! Let’s be less fearful and more proactive. I do not believe in resolutions, but I do believe in goal setting! Seize the day. Write all of your dreams down on a piece of paper and work each day to make them a reality. Do not let FINANCES get in the way of not accomplishing your dreams. Every problem has a solution. Trust me. There were seasons in 2014…chile…
Keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this next step of BODY/COURAGE.
Thank you all for reading and I hope to see you at both shows.
